30. Andykins

Tournaments like Victory Road and Battle at the Border 2 show the peaks at which Andykins is able to achieve, placing 4th at both events. This past year he has developed a deeper cast to rely on in pivotal moments, playing both Kirby and Captain Falcon along side his Pikachu, so much so that his falcon snagged him his best win of the year, KD3. Andykins newly realized versatility has put him in position to achieve a goal of his years in the making, but just out of his reach, a deep bracket run at Supernova. Although being such a gifted commentator, he technically already appeared in top 8 at Supernova 2024.

29. ReefyBeefy

A deceptive and decisive player, ReefyBeefy has made a name for himself in the scene as a Captain Falcon slayer. Reefy skyrocketed his stock this year, jumping a total of 30 spots, while snagging huge wins over Crovy, EG, and Kris Kringle – wow, this guy hates Falcon. When asked about his goals for the future, Reefy simply said, “I want to be better than my brother.” His brother, DankeyKang, was ranked one spot above him last year, but for this year at least, Reefy has the last laugh.

28. CTG

Dillon “CTG” Grandy – the strongest puff from the lonestar state; almost 10 years competing and he’s still making strides. With recent wins on EG, Waxy:Joe, Hotline, and Antwon420 he has proven time and time again he’s not one to be slept on. CTG almost always is shown to be one of the strongest contenders. Winning Escape Pod, and a few top 8 placements have helped cement his rankings for this year’s PR. regardless if he’s training for the BMW Dallas Marathon or kicking back with the boys at a random bar tournament; CTG will always teleport his way into your heart

27. Kix

Kix has become a household name for making top 32 at every Supernova he attends. The Japanese Pikachu managed to make quick work of the Midwest division 1 pool (feat. Wario & KrisKringle) defeating Dr Sauce, Combo Blaze, PYT, Box, and the Canadian quad main KrisKringle. Although he wasn’t able to take out wario he did manage to exact revenge against the NorCal Falcon Natty who beat his Japanese brethren Take the year prior, and then was eventually eliminated by North American top dogs Lowww and HammerHeart. Kix can be found grinding friendlies constantly during the entirety of Supernova – with of course the exception of the yearly pilgrimage to Japan’s favorite American restaurant, Hooter’s. Kix also performed incredibly well alongside Kurabba in doubles where they beat the brotherly Brody bunch Jason and Josh as well as one of North America’s very best teams: KD3 and Stevie G. Although they would lose to KD and Stevie in Loser’s they managed to place 3rd at one of the most stacked doubles brackets of all time.

26. Antwon420

You never know exactly what you’ll get with an Antwon tourney. I’ve definitely heard him say “I’ll never lose to a Jigglypuff again,” before going on to play one of the quicker 0-3 losses against CTG I’ve witnessed in my lifetime. There’s also something to be said about a Supernova run that included a game 5 set with Wizzrobe, a 2-0 win over Robert, and still somehow managing to lose against Paco, Finio, and B33F. Though these results seem out of the ordinary, oftentimes you’ll find that it’s just a consistent part of the ‘Twon experience.

His volatility, unpredictable level of soberness, and high level play make him one of the more entertaining top players to watch in today’s game. With the last two years of consistent high level results, one thing is certain – Antwon is a threat to beat anyone in today’s game… As long as he wakes up on time.

25. EG

Coming in at #25 is one of the top solo Falcon players in all the land, EG. EG hails from the great state of Michigan and has been a pillar of consistency within the SSB64 community for years.  Don’t be fooled by his charm and/or beautiful curly hair – EG is a ruthless competitor, who shows no mercy in his quest to win.  Blink, and you risk becoming another victim of EG’s vicious zero to death combos. On the flip side, if you do manage to get a hold of his Falcon be prepared to deal with some of the most diabolical DI this game has ever seen. His DI is so powerful, at times it appears he wants to get hit just so he can DI out and crush your soul. EG is a complete player, capable of winning at the highest level, touting recent wins over B33f, AndyKins, Lord Narwhal, DankeyKang, and Janitor.  With no signs of slowing down, EG should continue to climb the rankings for years to come.

24. Hotline

A true character specialist, Hotline is one of North America’s best solo Yoshi mains. He originally learned the game under the tutelage of Fireblaster, Connecticut’s legendary Yoshi player, but has since gone on to surpass his teacher and prove himself as a threat to take out just about anyone he sees in bracket. With a terrifying punish game and rock solid consistency, this cyan dino is a major challenge for all that come up against him.

23. Waxy:Joe

Waxy:Joe is Smash 64’s tricky puffball assassin. With an unruly way to pull off some of the most mind-boggling rests you’ve ever seen, he pulls his way into the top 25. While he didn’t have another fairytale run at Supernova 2024, he had a great performance overall against the field and could punch up and surprise people who thought Pikachu would be a free win. He works all his magic with a beer in hand, a smile on his face, and a sleeping Puff while your character is off in space

22. Janitor

From Master Musician to Combo Connoisseur, Robert “Janitor” Miller is no stranger to the smash 64 scene. While he may have taken a step back from competing for a while, but he had a solid comeback year with a win over KD3 at Supernova 2024. He’s a great beacon of light to this community as he helps players at all levels of the game and shows them the fun side of Smash 64 with flashy combos and daredevil tactics. Here’s to another solid year to be cleaned up by this “Janitor”.

21. Lord Narwhal

There’s only one player who will show up to the venue with a controller full of beans, offer you a Ritz cracker only to crush it into a fine powder in your hand, and then challenge you to beat his high score on the Bop It. This unpredictable nature is more than just part of lord narwhal’s personality—in many ways it’s what defines his play. Throughout the years, narwhal has found continued success by sticking to his guns, playing at a lightning-fast pace and sensing every opportunity to catch the opponent off guard.

While his days of content creation and frequent tournaments may be behind him, the one thing that you can predict from lord narwhal is that he’ll be there ready to perform at the biggest event of the year. His 17th place finish at Supernova 2024 extends his streak to six Top 32 appearances at the championship event. This year, narwhal found himself facing a group of opponents he could truly excel against—threading the needle through the carefully practiced defenses of players like Finio, Grain, Killer, Box, and MrSir.

Finishing the year at #21, narwhal’s performance at Supernova has earned him a career-high placement on the year-end rankings. Whether he keeps entering tournaments or takes a step back to focus on his growing family, lord narwhal’s decade-long legacy as a top competitor proves that playing the game on your own terms can be a winning strategy.
